In the framework of the International Open Access Week, which will take place from 21 to 27 October, the Publications Service of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) has organised the UAB Scientific Journals Day 2024. Under the slogan Community over commercialization, it aims to raise awareness of the importance of community control of knowledge exchange systems. In this line, the meeting at the UAB aims to be a space where the editorial teams of the University's journals can share knowledge, experiences or challenges, as well as share relevant issues related to open access scholarly publishing.
Open Access Week dates back to 2008, when SPARC and several partners from the academic community organised it with the aim of promoting free, immediate and online access to the results of academic research and the right to use and reuse these results as needed. Since then, the week has been celebrated annually all over the world and each year more and more organisations and institutions join in by promoting activities and events.
The UAB Publications Service organised the first conference on scientific journals in 2023. The 2024 meeting will take place on Wednesday 23 October, from 10 am to 2 pm, in the Journals Room of the Humanities Library of the University, and is open to all those involved or collaborating in the publication of UAB journals. This year, a form has been set up where interested people can register and propose questions to be discussed during the activity. Registration will be open until 14 October.
Date: Wednesday, 23 October, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Place: UAB Humanities Library (Faculty of Philosophy and Arts).
Registration: to attend the conference, registration must be formalised through this form until 14 October.
