The Publishing Service of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) will present the book La literatura religiosa del antiguo Egipto (2800 a. n. e. – 1000 n. e.) by Antonio J. Morales Rondán on Wednesday, 9 September, at 9:00 a.m., as part of the 8th Ibero-American Congress of Egyptology. This year's congress is hosted by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and organised through its Institute for the Study of the Ancient Near East (IEPOA). The presentation will take place in Sala Lluís Vives 1 (Hotel Exe Campus de la UAB) and will open the final day of the congress.

The presentation will be led by the editor of the volume, Antonio J. Morales Rondán, together with Pep Sansó, Head of the Scientific Journals Publishing Unit at the UAB Publishing Service. The publication joins the UAB Publishing Service's catalogue as part of the 8th Ibero-American Congress of Egyptology, the leading event in the Ibero-American sphere devoted to the study of Ancient Egypt.

The book explores the interconnections between the sacred, the magical and the human through fourteen studies spanning nearly four thousand years, from the Pyramid Texts to the Coptic period. It brings together funerary compositions, hymns, cosmographies and medico-ritual treatises that shed light on the complex systems of thought of Ancient Egypt, deeply rooted in the relationship between human beings, the divine and the cosmos.

Moving beyond today's fascination with the more enigmatic aspects of Egyptian civilisation, the volume offers a rigorous approach to the texts that shaped its religious and cultural traditions. At the same time, it invites contemporary readers to reflect on ritual practices, the negotiation with the unseen and the power of the written word.

Antonio J. Morales Rondán (Seville, 1974) holds a PhD in Egyptology from the University of Pennsylvania (2013) and is Associate Professor of Ancient History at the University of Alcalá. He has been a visiting professor at Harvard University, a Fulbright Scholar at Yale University and a visiting professor at the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris, among other international institutions. He also directs the University of Alcalá's archaeological and epigraphic expedition at Deir el-Bahari (Luxor) and has published extensively on Egyptian funerary texts and the religion of Ancient Egypt.

The book presentation is part of the official programme of the 8th Ibero-American Congress of Egyptology, which brings together international scholars and specialists at UAB to share the latest research on the history, archaeology, language, religion and culture of Ancient Egypt.

With this new publication, the UAB Publishing Service continues to expand a catalogue that includes other key works in the field of Egyptology, such as Escrituras, lengua y cultura en el antiguo Egipto and volumes 5 to 9 of the Aula Aegyptiaca Studia series. All of these titles will be available for purchase in print at the book sales area throughout the congress.
