The co-publication Literatura catalana de la postmodernitat (Catalan Literature of the Postmodern Era, Volumes I and II), published jointly by the Servei de Publicacions of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Edicions de la Universitat de Barcelona, has been awarded the 2026 Joan Lluís Vives Prize for the Best Publication in Arts and Humanities. The prize annually recognises the best works published by the member universities of the Xarxa Vives d'Universitats.
Edited by Jordi Marrugat, Víctor Martínez-Gil and Núria Santamaria, the work is the first comprehensive history of Catalan literature from the 1960s to the present day. Bringing together contributions from more than fifty specialists, it provides an overview of the evolution of the main literary genres, the cultural and institutional frameworks, and the processes of transformation that have shaped contemporary Catalan literature.
The Joan Lluís Vives Prizes aim to highlight the quality of university publishing and its contribution to knowledge transfer and the promotion of Catalan as an academic language. The awards ceremony took place on 3 July at the Universitat de Perpinyà Via Domitia during the presentation of the Xarxa Vives d'Universitats Medal of Honour. The prize was received on behalf of the two institutions by the rectors of the Universitat de Barcelona and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Joan Guàrdia Olmos and Javier Lafuente Sancho.
